Have you ever struggled to figure out how to use those colorful shades in your makeup palettes? Or are you trying to find beginner friendly examples of colorful eyeshadow looks? I’ve always had trouble adding more bold colors to my everyday makeup look without it being “too much”. So I’ve decided to journal my experiments with using colorful shades and incorporating that into my daily looks using simple techniques. Please follow along with this series if you are looking for some makeup inspiration for both old and new palettes.

This makeup look isn’t necessarily “everyday”, but I think if you go out for festivals or night time events frequently you could still use it as some sultry smokey eye makeup inspiration. I combined the siren eye look with a smokey outer eye using Flower Knows Moonlight Land palette and two about-face Matte Fluid Eye Paint liquid eyeshadows. This turned into a dark blue monochromatic siren smokey eyeshadow with hints of silver glitter.

I don’t usually use blue eyeshadow shades in my makeup, but I was very inspired by the blue and silver color story in this Flower Knows Moonlight Land palette. Part of their mermaid collection, this palette features blue and brown shades perfect for creating smokey eye looks. I decided to try using about-face Matte Fluid Eye Paints in Art of Darkness and Lost Unfound as eyeliner for the inner eye. I mixed the dark blue with the black to get a darker navy blue color, and followed my eye shape to create the trending siren eye look. To create a siren eye, you place the eye liner right along your eye line while extending the liner into the inner eye corner. This makes the eye appear longer with a cat eye effect.

Instead of lining my outer eye into a wing liner for the traditional siren eye look, I opted to use the dark blue shimmer in the palette for a smokey eye instead. I thought it would be more interesting to soften the rest of the look into a dramatic soft glam while keeping the front more structured. I used the darker brown and the blue shimmer to make a smokey wing for the outer eye. Then I used the silver glitter and placed it all over the lid. I also didn’t try to smoke out my under eye as I feel it makes my eyes smaller for my eye shape, but feel free to try that for your own eye look.

I think the silver glitter helps elevate the look into a more glam vibe while the dark blue shimmer keeps the look dramatic. I don’t think I would do the siren eye look all the time, but it’s a fun technique to try. It’s interesting to see how your eye shape can change just by adding eyeliner in a different way.

Makeup Tip for Hooded Eyes

Also a makeup tip for hooded eyes, don’t add too much eyeshadow on the middle of your lid where your eyelid is prone to fold over. This prevents the eyeshadow from rubbing off and leaving a noticeable patch in your eye makeup. And if the eyelid skin folds over in that area, any eyeshadow you apply will not be seen anyway. This is why I usually only use lighter natural or glitter shades in the inner eyelid area.

Where to Buy Flower Knows Makeup in the US

I purchased my Flower Knows makeup straight from the Flower Knows global website flowerknows.co. I believe they also have an official Aliexpress site that you can buy directly from the brand too. I made my order on May 25, and on May 26 they shipped my order out. I received my order on June 3rd, so about 8 days of shipping. As they are shipping from China, I would expect delivery time to be about 7-10 business days. Everything came packaged very well, no broken palettes or shattered shades inside. You can see an earlier post on my June makeup haul for the other Flower Knows palettes I purchased.
